Turner Home Page Contest

 

Background: 

 It is good practice to revise the appearance of a web site every so often to keep viewers interested.  The original home page of our website has served its purpose and we feel now is the time to let our more aesthetically talented Turners take on the challenge of constructing a replacement.   Since the Turners have a ready made pool of talented people who have already taken part in various artistic competitions, a contest to determine the design of a new home page seems like a logical approach.  A contest would also create interest in the designs as they are displayed in a new “Contest” section of our web site. 

 

Rules for Home Page Design Competition:

 The Design is limited to the Home page.

 Eligibility:

  • Open to all members in good standing of the American Turners.
  • Designer’s name, address, Turner Society and District and shirt size must accompany the submitted design.  The email address where designer may be contacted is optional.
  • Maximum of 3 Designs per Turner

 Design must be original.   

  • We cannot accept copyrighted material.
  • It is up to the contestant to verify copyright status.

 Required Contents:

  • Title: “American Turners, Inc.”
  • Motto:  Sound Mind Sound Body
  • Turner Seal and Emblem with copyright notice
  • Address and phone number of National Office
  • Date of last revision
  • Main menu with section titles: either vertical or horizontal format.
  • A short Paragraph explaining who we are and what we do (need not be original).
  • If photos are used, the subjects may not be limited to a single District or Society.
  • All words must be legible when displayed on a 15” monitor

 Restrictions:

  • No sound
  • No video

 Options for submitting the design:

  • Actual web page in HTML with necessary files by email
  • PDF (Portable Document File) by email
  • GIF and JPEG formats by email
  • Photo/copy of the complete page by email or US Post

Photo/copy entries mailed in must be no larger than 8.5" x 11" with no matting or frames; we suggest making a color copy and submitting that copy.  We will return material to the sender only when sufficient postage and a self addressed envelope is provided by the  sender.

Deadline for entries:  June 23, 2008

 All designs submitted become the property of the American Turners.

We reserve the right to make minor modifications of the winning design to comply with our web authoring program, Microsoft FrontPage 2003.

We reserve the right to use designs for other pages within the site.

  

Display:

All acceptable designs submitted will be posted in the Contest section of the American Turners website.  They will be clickable to full screen, where possible. 

 Judging:

A panel of Judges shall select the most appropriate submitted design based on: 

  • Attractiveness
  • Relevance to Turners
  • Adaptability to the web

The decision of the Judges is final.

 Prize:

Winner to have their submission used as the home page of www.americanturners.org and will receive a personalized golf shirt with Turner Emblem.

We can supply the graphics for the Turner Logo and Seal.
